City as Text group 6 had the opportunity to go on the walkabout and see the neighborhood of Westmoreland Place. The neighborhood was very nice and had a upper middle class feel to it, it was very family oriented and the houses were fairly large for being close to the city but had very small yards or land around the houses. The messages that were conveyed by the neighborhood were that of responsibility. It felt as if everyone cared about the way there yard and exterior of their houses looked. Virtually every house had Halloween decorations up and clean yard. The houses were nice and the neighborhood had fairly expensive cars in the neighborhood so it could be concluded that the people who live in that neighborhood have money. Here is an example of a typical house in the westmoreland place neighborhood.
The streets had a nice homey feel to them with trees overhanging the road and leaves all around the sidewalks. Here is a picture...

Overall the neighborhood displayed feelings of care about how they were viewed by the public and it seemed like order was established throughout the neighborhood. There was no graffitti or urban propaganda in the neighborhood even though it is very close to the city. The neighborhood reminded me of a quasi pleasantville for nothing ever seemed to go wrong. It was a nice neighborhood where anyone would enjoy growing up.
