Individual Post 2 (Emily Means)

For our final project we chose to explore the question: "Can Salt Lake's public transportation system take you anywhere?" We included Trax, Frontrunner, and the bus system in our project. We rode the Trax from the Fort Douglas stop all the way to the Central Station. On the way we interviewed a few Traxxers. My favorite interview was with Janice, a native Baltimorean who moved to Daybreak a year or so ago. She works at the hospital at "all strange hours of the day" and she had a lot to say about public transportation, both here and in Baltimore. In comparison, Janice highly recommended UTA over Baltimore's system. She appreciated how convenient the Trax typically were, except at early hours when she is called in to work. She also noted that the Trax were nice if you were tired from a long day or too drunk to drive because if you ride the Trax you can sleep on the way home and are not a hazard on the road. This made me think about how the Trax stop running at 11:30, despite Salt Lake's very active nightlife. If the Trax ran later on the weekends I think that there would be fewer accidents due to drunk or drowsy driving. Just something to consider, UTA.
