Group 3 Walkabout 5 (Emily Means)

For our website walkabout, we had the Downtown Salt Lake Alliance's site. The main purpose of the website is to show all of the things Salt Lake has to offer. There are sections that describe where you can live, eat, work, shop, and play in the city. The website portrays Salt Lake in a vivid and colorful manner, especially special events that are occurring in the city, such as the lighting of the holiday lights downtown. The site is interactive, making it easy to explore. It portrays the city in a very positive light. The site is well-organized, and provides easy access to a lot of information, which makes it ideal for someone new to Salt Lake who is looking for something to do. Along with the tourism aspects of the city, the site also addresses some of the social efforts being made in regards to the city's homeless. The HOST (homeless outreach service team) program is implemented during the holidays in order to directly benefit homeless programs rather than panhandlers. This shows that Salt Lake is aware that the situations of its inhabitants are not all ideal, and is making an effort to better the lives of the less fortunate.
