When I used to think about riding Trax all I imagined was getting from one place to another as quickly as possible. That may the the purpose of it, but that's not all it is. It is a place for people to express themselves. We saw someone playing his guitar and having a good time while waiting for the train. That isn't the most common thing though, he was getting some pretty dirty looks from other people waiting for the train.
The train was kept very clean, showing that people respected it, they didn't want to make it dirty for others. We also found that people mostly kept to themselves. Unless there was someone you got on the train with you didn't talk to anyone else. Many people had their headphones in to keep people from talking to them. It was very much a personal place where people didn't want to be disturbed.
We also noticed that almost all of the stations had some piece of art. At the library they had sculptures of stacks of books. On 900 South the benches had art from different ethnicities. At the Trolley Square stop there was a car art piece made out of old bike tires.
Overall I thought that riding Trax for our first walkabout was great. It was a nice way to see a lot of the city in short amount of time. It was really educational and fun!
